The Pianfetti Foundation

The Pianfetti Foundation is dedicated to nourishing the transformative power of education, the arts, physical activity, and community, particularly in the state of West Virginia.

About Pianfetti

The Pianfetti Foundation was founded and funded by John and Lucillie Pianfetti.

Lucille Pianfetti graduated from Northwestern in the 1930s. She worked with Jane Addams in Hull House in Chicago, and worked as a truant officer in Charleston, WV to make sure all children had the opportunity to benefit from public education. She also volunteered with the Unitarian Fellowship, spending many hours devoted to the local library and arts community, particularly the West Virginia Symphony. She believed that education, art, music, and healthy food were the cornerstones of a life well-lived.

John Pianfetti worked for Westvaco and FMC. His love for science, engineering, and technology helped fuel his passion for discovery and invention. He also loved gardening, and he enjoyed running. He participated in the Charleston Distance Run from its inception until he was 96 years old., Most of all, he loved his wife Lucille and their community and family.

The Foundation has become a multigenerational endeavor with Pianfetti children, grandchildren, and soon-to-be great grandchildren assisting in its operation and vision.
